De Montfort University is consistently ranked amongst the most sustainable universities in the United Kingdom and is a Global Hub for SDG16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.Faculty / DirectorateThe Estates and Facilities Directorate aims to provide an attractive, efficient and effective campus, which supports a safe, healthy, accessible and diverse environment for teaching, learning; research, living, commercial activity and working.RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen in the Estates and Facilities Directorate as part of the sustainability team to assist in the monitoring, coordination, delivery and administration of sustainability initiatives at De Montfort University.The post holder will support a variety of different sustainability related projects and initiatives including our approach to sustainable travel; assisting in the implementation of the university’s environmental management system; engaging with staff and students on sustainability behaviour change projects and supporting work our work on embedding sustainability into teaching and learning.The post holder will also assist in the coordination of the University’s Travel Plan, assisting in the measuring and monitoring of transport related carbon emissions, assisting in the compilation of the annual sustainability report and developing new initiatives to encourage more sustainable travel.The Sustainability Coordinator role is a fixed term role for 12 months.Ideal CandidateYou will have relevant experience of working on environmental issues and sustainable transport related issues. You will have some understanding of relevant legislation and knowledge of best practice. You will have the ability to focus on and respond positively to stakeholder requirements to ensure that relevant targets are met.You will be enthusiastic and conscientious with a clear commitment to sustainable development. You will also have the ability to produce accurate reports using Microsoft word and excel, and experience of social media to promote events and activities.Closing date: 30 October 2024Interviews are scheduled for Thursday 21st November 2024£26,038 to £30,505.
