Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat’s the Opportunity?
You’re a creative storyteller who is passionate about employee experiences and excellent communications. As Senior Manager, HR Communications, you will support RBC’s Human Resources function by driving strategic communications that set the organization up for success, enable and engage employees, and protect and enhance RBC’s brand and reputation. You will partner with HR stakeholders to strategize, develop and execute innovative communications plans supporting key HR programs and initiatives, including Compensation, Pension & Benefits, Wellness, Digital and Operations. You will also work closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer’s communications team on activities to drive engagement and alignment across RBC.What will you do?

  • Provide internal and external communications direction, expertise, advice and review of materials for RBC’s HR team
  • Contribute to the success and quality of internal, enterprise-wide communications to ensure employees are aware of and engaged in RBC’s enterprise HR programs and benefits
  • Build proactive external opportunities to profile RBC’s HR strategy (owned, paid, traditional, and social media, conference and events participation, etc.)
  • Help anticipate and manage reputational risks, assist with rapid and effective responses to media inquiries, and act as spokesperson when needed
  • Develop and review materials for a variety of audiences including, but not limited to employees, leaders, media, industry associations and candidates
  • Closely partner with CHRO executive support team on select communications activities, including management of employee-facing events and development of key messages and executive-ready briefing materials
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across businesses and functions, contributing to Corporate Communications team goals and RBC’s overall priorities

Must-have

  • Undergraduate degree/post-graduate certificate or equivalent in communications, public relations, journalism, English or related field
  • 7+ years of communications experience
  • Communications strategist with demonstrable writing expertise for a variety of channels and audiences and sensitive to complexities of communicating ideas and policies in an environment of competing interests
  • Proven track record for providing strategic advice to senior executives and designing internal and external communication and change management strategies that drive business objectives and behavioural change
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented, strong project management knowledge and time management capabilities

Nice-to-have

  • Ability to facilitate between and influence executives and key decision makers
  • Strong understanding of HR and employment trends
  • Experience in proactive media relations and/or issues management
  • Hands-on knowledge of internal and external communications channels, including effective use of events, digital, video and social media communications
