Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?On the Consolidated Reporting Services team within RBC Family Office Services, your main role as the Accounting Officer is to conduct bookkeeping for assigned clients and prepare supporting schedules, within established deadlines, in an efficient and accurate manner. You will deliver reports to clients and accountants, ensuring a seamless delivery of quality client service. You will also assist the Senior Manager with other administrative duties, as required. You will develop new business from referrals as you leverage relationships within RBC Wealth Management and other internal partners. Although you must be comfortable working alone with minimal supervision, being a team player is critical as success is dependent on collaborating with others.What will you do?

  • Review the trial balance worksheets and investment portfolios generated by our accounting system to ensure all transactions, units, costs, etc. are correctly recorded and agree to the account statements, processing adjusting entries, as required
  • Set up Excel worksheets and prepare schedules and reconciliations (capital gains/losses, investments, Canadian dividends, Income, T3 allocations, etc.), and deliver reports in a timely manner to clients and accountants
  • Read tax planning memos and prepare schedules, demonstrating the accounting and tax implications
  • Assist external auditors by providing necessary explanations, supporting schedules, and information to enable them to perform their work efficiently
  • Ensure all account information on internal systems is up to date, complete, and accurate
  • Seek out, develop, and implement innovative solutions for client service and financial performance, consistent with business strategy
  • Maintain a high level of partnership and knowledge regarding all of RBC’s business units

What do you need to succeed?Must-have

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in accounting, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably with holding companies
  • Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict taxation, private company administration, and audit deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps, especially Excel, and Corporate TaxPrep

Nice-to-have

  • Good knowledge of the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), including the preparation of clients reports, financial statements, and corporate tax returns
  • Self-motivated and initiative-taking attitude
