We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated theatre practitioner to join our theatre Band 7 leadership team. Applicants should have significant theatre scrub experience within the Cardiac and Thoracic specialities. This post would be to Lead in Thoracic and participate in Cardiac which would include coordinating.You will require strong leadership skills and a passion to deliver high quality in all aspects of nursing care. Providing visible, credible senior presence, you will be expected to lead on improvements across the theatre environment.Barts Heart Centre has brought together the services of some of the best cardiovascular experts in the country who work together to create a single specialist centre for cardiovascular disease covering all our local communities and nationally. We are proud of our world class cardiovascular, Thoracic robotics, Robotic Cardiac and ECMO service.   • Appropriate peri-operative post registration course
  • Mentorship course or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Evidence of specialist Thoracic surgical experience including robotic surgery
  • Experience in delivering teaching and training
  • Experience of managing challenging situations

  • Experience in multiple surgical specialities including cardiac surgery
  • Experience in Theatre co-ordination and team management
  • Evidence of participation in quality improvement
  • Experience in leading in clinical audit and delivery of outcomes

  • Understand change management and service development
  • Knowledgeable of current professional issues in nursing
  • In depth skill and technical knowledge of at least one relevant surgical specialty
  • Aware of service improvement specifications e.g. NHS framework, NICE guidelines, GIRFT
  • Knowledge and understanding of patient safety initiatives including WHO safe surgery.
