Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visitWhat You’ll Be DoingThe role provides team leadership and direct responsibility for managing investments and investment oversight matters in CIBC Trust’s largest, most complex, and demanding client engagements for the purpose of permitting CIBC Trust to discharge its fiduciary duties and responsibilities. With minimal supervision, the individual will deal with unstructured issues, develop, and negotiate practical customized client solutions within CIBC Trust’s policy framework, and deliver strategy, advise and results in a manner that recognizes sensitivities and balances outcomes for all stakeholders. This role will have particular emphasis in leading of our fast-growing investment oversight business segment, including development of company and client policies, procedures, reporting, systems, and controls. The position maintains expert level of investment knowledge sufficient to analyze current market conditions, review investment products and proposals, contribute to the firm’s investment strategies and policies, and communicate on behalf of the team in person and/or in writing to individual ranging from senior executives, including C-Suite officers and Investment Committees, to novice investors. The role also provides investment education and training support to employees, partners and clients at all levels as well as supporting smooth day to day investment operations and special projects, as assigned.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. - Investment Management Oversight – You will lead the multi-billion-dollar investment oversight function within the department over internal CIBC partners and external Investment Managers.
- Investment Portfolio Construction, Management and Administration – As a fiduciary acting as a “Prudent Investor,” you will directly directly manage fully discretionary or advisory investment portfolios for complex high net worth, ultra high net worth and institutional Estate, Trust, and Agency clients.
- Internal and External Client Relationship Management – You will develop and manage value added relationships with internal and external clients.
- Investment Research and Analysis – You will remain current with the financial and economic news of the day to make professional informed investment decisions and recommendations for assigned portfolios.
- Investment Management Operations – To support the smooth operations of the Investment Management department within CIBC Trust, you will perform other Investment and Administrative functions as required
- Marketing, Sales, and Business Development – You will provide investment expertise and support to the marketing, sales, and business development activities of CIBC Trust, as required.
Who You Are
- You are a seasoned professional. You have a Business/Commerce/Finance/Economics or Accounting degree with 10+ years of relevant investment management and/or brokerage experience. Having Basic French language capability would be an asset.
- You are a certified professional and have your Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or full professional Investment or Accounting designation, with demonstrated knowledge of Personal Financial Planning, Canadian Tax, Estate &Trust, and Investment Accounting.
- You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don’t. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making. You have deep analytical and investment research skills and are highly motivate and self-disciplined to learn about new areas and analyze a very broad range of issues from first principles.

- Your influence makes an impact. Your ability to successfully manage conflict and ambiguity. You are results-oriented, confident and assertive. Additionally, you are very well organized, detailed, and methodical with the ability to prioritize and multi-task while meeting required strict deadlines.
