Job description

What you will do:

  • Responsible for running the mill floor and keeping lumber flowing in all areas including CNS outfeed, VDA, unscramblers, and remain chains
  • Observe and obey all Safety and ZES rules and procedures
  • Watch CNS for faults and constantly assist with bottlenecks throughout the mill by helping where needed
  • Enter reman lumber back into mill
  • Monitor and clear hang ups at block chipper
  • Remove cants that are hung up in VDA
  • Responsible for changing band saw and VDA saw
  • Change block chipper knives
  • Assist edger operator in changing edger saw
  • Assist in replacing CNS knives
  • Continuously monitor lumber quality from all machine centers, measure lumber for proper width and thickness
  • Investigate and communicate downtime reasons to downtime recorder
  • Able to operate all workstations in Sawmill at or above production levels. Includes CNS, edger, trimmer, sorter, and stacker
  • Assist Maintenance in repairs
  • Perform PM duties as assigned
  • Assist co-workers, as needed
  • Keep mill floor clean
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to follow directions and learn all required duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Must be available to work any shift, as needed
  • Must be able to work unsupervised
  • Good communication skills
  • Good attendance and safety record
