The Clinical Nurse Specialist is expected to support all areas of the service and work in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary pain team. The role would require you to manage inpatients with acute and chronic pain, using current analgesic techniques.You’ll Care for acutely unwell patients in surgical settings, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills and work autonomously and as a team player, making independent decisions on pain management plans.Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll serve as a role model for high standards of patient care.You shall function autonomously with senior pain specialists guidance, leading the pain team champions and ensuring out-of-hours care includes pain management plans.Supporting registered nurses and pain team champions, you shall maintain high-quality patient care and provide specialist knowledge and education in pain management, contributing to audits and service improvement.Main duties of the jobManage a caseload of inpatients with both acute and chronic pain.Possess a working knowledge of current analgesic techniques.Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing sensitive consultations.Make independent decisions about patients’ pain management plans.Participate in audit and implement changes within the specialty.About usAs a leading health insurer and healthcare provider, with the purpose to help people live longer, healthier happier lives, our customers are our focus.   • Substantial post-registration experience.
  • Confident in teaching members of the MDT.
  • Genuine interest in inpatient pain management.
  • Experience in surgical ward-based care or equivalent.
  • Experience in quality improvement and audits.
