There will be considerable effort involved in the planning, coordination and oversight of engineering work for civil and environmental disciplines related to various aspects of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) project, including the radiological survey of approximately 4800 properties, a radiological survey of Road Allowance sites, radon monitoring, delineation of sites requiring remediation, completion of remediation designs and ultimately the remediation of low-level radioactive waste contaminated sites in Port Hope. Field of Study: Engineering or Environmental Sciences.
Year of study: 2nd year university or higherWhat you will be doing:

  • Assisting with technical reviews of analytical characterization, delineation plans and design deliverables from contractors to ensure technical accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Providing input into technical enquiries as well as ensuring that the deliverables are completed as expected.
  • Participating in problem solving (technical and process) and support the development of solutions and a recommended option, implementation of the recommended option and monitoring to ensure that the solution addresses the original problem.
  • Performing field oversight of contractors on an as needed basis.
  • Working collaboratively and productively in a team environment.
  • Performing other duties as required to meet key milestones.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • 2nd year or higher university student seeking a degree in civil/environmental engineering or chemistry/environmental science, or equivalent.
  • Experience
  • Strong skills with MS Office applications (e.g. Outlook, WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS) as well as familiarity with AutoCAD and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work with confidential information in secure working environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong MS Excel and data management skills.
  • Ability to readily adapt to new situations.

  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
