Contract Type: Full-time or part-timeGSL Education is currently seeking a dedicated, proactive and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant who has prior experience working in school settings. This job requires individuals to join schools across Dorchester from After October Half Term 2024.In your role as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will give a student specialised support so they may participate fully in their education and interact well with their peers. In a supportive learning environment, this position is essential to the intellectual and social development of the student who needs extra care. We encourage you to submit your CV if you are committed to making a significant difference in the lives of students and supporting their success.Responsibilities of 1:1 SEN Teaching AssistantAs a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have to go through:
- Provide personalised, one-to-one support to students with SEND, SEMH, ADHD, and additional learning needs.
- Assist in developing and adapting lesson plans to suit the individual learning requirements of the student, ensuring their progress in line with the curriculum.
- Foster a supportive and nurturing environment, helping the student to build self-confidence, independence, and essential social skills.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child’s needs are met effectively.
- Help manage behaviour and encourage positive interactions, supporting the student’s overall well-being and academic achievement.
- Ensure continuity in learning and offer assistance in all classroom activities, including sensory and therapeutic interventions where necessary.
Job RequirementsTo be successful in this 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need these requirements:
- A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is advantageous.
- Previous experience working with children in an SEN environment, or complex additional learning and behavioural needs, particularly in a 1:1 setting, or else as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach.
- The ability to adapt and respond to the unique needs of the student while promoting positive learning outcomes.
To work with GSL Education as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
