Location: Bridgewater Bank, CalgaryReporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, Bridgewater Bank, the Controller will be accountable for the overall management of the Finance department, including financial and regulatory reporting, accounting operations, and budgeting and planning functions. This role is responsible for establishing and managing financial policies and procedures, ensuring the integrity of accounting practices, and maintaining accurate fiscal records. Key areas of focus include fiduciary responsibilities, risk management, and internal controls. The Controller will also provide strategic direction on the implementation of new business initiatives and process improvements, playing a pivotal role in supporting the bank’s growth and operational efficiency.WHAT MOVES YOU

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Report to the Chief Financial Officer, Bridgewater Bank
  • Build, lead, motivate and empower the Finance team to enhance their skills and performance and to deliver high quality service in accordance with organizational goals and objectives
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of strategic direction, goals, objectives, plans, and budgets
  • Lead the monitoring and reporting of adequate internal controls as they relate to financial functions and within internal control framework
  • Collaborates with Data Analysis teams to enhance reporting systems, business processes, and internal controls for improved efficiency and compliance.
  • Develop and monitor operating and capital budgets
  • Oversee the preparation of financial results and present to executive, management and board members
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial reporting and adherence with international Financial Reporting Standards, and corporate policies and procedures
  • Build, manage, and sustain internal relationships with relevant stakeholders across the organization
  • Create a productive and supportive team environment with direct reports; provides leadership and guidance

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a Post-secondary degree in a related field, such as Accounting, Business or Finance
  • You have a minimum of 10 years’ leadership experience in a financial analysis and/or accounting role
  • You hold a recognized accounting designation (CPA)
  • Accounting experience in a federally regulated financial institution would be an asset
  • You have experience in implementing and managing financial and information systems with an understanding in the areas of financial reporting and information technology
  • You will have a proven ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and year-end documents
  • You have a firm understanding of treasury operations
  • You posses strong planning, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
