Year of study: Must be currently enrolled in a first or second-year programWhat you will be doing:

  • Attending pre-job meetings at the start of shift and follow site procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Report any concerns to the supervisor and seek clarification regarding any questions.
  • Identifying equipment in the field.
  • Identifying equipment on engineering drawings.
  • Producing equipment tags and applying them in the field.
  • Performing independent research.
  • Engaging with site staff to build knowledge based on independent research.
  • Performing problem-solving, producing a report and presenting to both trade and management levels.
  • Understanding types of site instrumentation, their function, and calibration methods.
  • Gathering information on site equipment programs.
  • Making recommendations on changes to calibration program effectiveness.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Preference given to those enrolled or completed a certified Trades or Engineering program
  • Experience
  • Experience working in and industrial environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Work in both Industrial field and office environment.
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Understand complex technical information.
  • Work individual and in a team; able to accept coaching from supervisor, trades, and technical staff.
  • Perform independent research and supplement with information from knowledgeable CNL Staff.
  • Wear personal protective equipment and clothing including hard hat, safety glasses, work boots, face masks, and nuclear environment protective clothing.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Health & Safety.
  • Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Theory, Vibrations, Nuclear Theory.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Nuclear Industry benefits and challenges.
  • Problem solving and decision making.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Independent learning.
  • Measurement and Control Systems Analog and Digital Electronics, and Digital Logic.
  • Technical print reading and computer aided drafting.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Time management.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing for a nuclear and industrial site.
  • Industrial Environment.
  • Some exposure to industrial and radiation hazards.
  • Work environment temperature ranging from -40 C to +30 C.
