Come be a part of the team.Job DescriptionMLSE is looking for a Manager who will be a member of the Finance department reporting directly to the Director of Finance. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for the financial reporting and analysis of monthly and quarterly results, with a focus on Ticketing, Global Partnerships, and our LIVE entertainment business. In the role of Manager, you will also have four direct reports and work closely with the FP&A team members, with the opportunity to get exposure to senior leadership within finance as well as the operating business.
- Manage the day-to-day accounting (P&L and Balance Sheet ownership) and closing the books for the Ticketing, Global Partnership, and Live entertainment departments on a timely basis while ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare analysis and commentary for the monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting packages presented to senior management.
- Manager of general accounting duties, including the review and approval of monthly journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations while delivering on strict timelines.
- On a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis assist with the annual audit of the MLSE consolidated financial statements and League Reporting reports and audits for all teams (NHL, NBA, MLS, CFL).
- Review and approve the preparation of variance analysis comparing actual results to plan and forecast for inclusion within ownership presentations.
- Work with the different lines of business and teams to review significant account variances and acquire explanations.
- Manage and be an active contributor to multiple sub-ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate revenue reporting and billings.
- Provide support in the coordination of external auditor requests.
- Review refund / payment requests to ensure accuracy in the process.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
- Other duties on an ad hoc basis as required.

- You will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience and preferably experience managing individuals.
- You have earned a post graduate degree or diploma preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or nearing completion of the designation is a must.
- You are a results and detail-oriented individual with a focus on standard methodologies and continuous improvements, challenging the status quo where required.
- You have strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills.
- You are able to build and lead effectively with a focus on coaching and growing the skills of the individuals on your team.
- You demonstrate initiative and can work independently and as part of a team.
- You possess outstanding organizational skills with the ability to independently lead and prioritize work activities and inputs.
- Your strong technical accounting knowledge in IFRS, including IFRS 15, helps you stand out from others.
- Your ability to analyze and interpret various data and develop logical solutions provides you with an outstanding perspective over others.
- You prefer a dynamic and fast-paced environment and have strong time management skills to ensure deadlines are met for multiple deliverables.
- Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP is considered an asset.
- You have an outstanding understanding of MS Office and your above-average proficiency with Excel, VBA, and macros makes you an asset.
