Job SummaryJob DescriptionWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?RBC’s Climate Strategy team drives the overall Enterprise vision to own and accelerate RBC’s climate ambition and supports strategy delivery while ensuring strong cross-enterprise alignment, with a mandate spanning sustainable finance, sectoral climate targets, and client engagement. The team serves as a central connection point for the enterprise on climate, bringing climate expertise, external insights, connectivity, best practices and thought leadership to groups across RBC.Reporting to the Director, Climate Science & Analytics, the Senior Manager, Climate Science & Analytics role enables the delivery of RBC’s climate commitments by providing research, analytics, and project management in support of the development and implementation of sectoral climate strategies with a focus on financed and facilitated emissions. This role will work directly across multiple lines of business (e.g., Capital Markets, Commercial Banking) to with a focus on carbon-intensive sectors, including Energy, Real Estate, Agriculture, and Transportation.WHAT WILL YOU DO?Support strategy & model business ownership for financed and facilitated emissions measurement, with an emphasis on methodological research, prioritization of enhancements, and project management.Implement methodologies for financed and facilitated emissions through proof-of-concept analytical pipelines (using Python, SQL, and Excel), authoring documentation and slides, supporting controls and governance (such as model validation), and collaborating with internal technical and business teams.Provide research & analytics support for the development and implementation of sectoral climate strategies including quantitative and qualitative financial, economic, policy, and disclosure research. Additionally, support distilling complex technical topics into slides for various audiences.WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?Must have:4+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3+ years of data science or analytics in support of strategic initiatives as a consultant or in a corporate function supporting key strategic projects.Expert in analyzing large datasets using Python and SQL and developing quantitative economic/financial modelling in Excel.Experience working in corporate sustainability, and/or sector decarbonization.Experience with structured problem-solving approaches and synthesis of key insights.Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects, stakeholders, and timelines simultaneously.Nice-to-have:Exceptional organizational and project management capabilitiesExperience with analytics governance and controls, such as QA and model validationExperience in a carbon-intensity industry, such as Real Estate, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Agriculture, etc.Knowledge or familiarity with the climate risk and/or target setting guidance issued by PCAF, NZBA, ISSB, and/or OSFI (B-15)What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
