Start Date: ImmediateGSL Education are seeking a committed and experienced Mental Health Support Worker to join one of our collaborative schools in Christchurch. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver compassionate, tailored support to students with mental health needs, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Facilitate one-on-one and small-group interventions, adjusting strategies to suit each student’s unique requirements.
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery, focusing on engaging and including students with mental health challenges.
  • Manage emotional outbursts effectively and employ strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Track and document progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to personalized support plans.
  • Stay informed on the latest educational practices and ASD support techniques, engaging in continuous professional development.

What We’re Looking for in a Mental Health Support Worker:

  • Prior experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges; experience in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to foster positive relationships.
  • High levels of empathy, patience, and understanding when working with students facing mental health issues.

To Work with GSL Education as a Mental Health Support Worker, You Need

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • An up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last 2 years.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one with GSL Education.
