The Collections Development Librarian (Serials) leads acquisition and management of RBG Kew’s print and electronic serial collections to meet the needs of staff, students, volunteers and external researchers. Managing the print and electronic serials element of the Library’s acquisition budget, the postholder will use data to help inform decision-making and ensure best value for money.This part-time, fixed term role provides an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver collection projects, including a strategic review of serial collection holdings and usage to advise on future storage requirements. (PDF, 128.03kb)More detailsWith a qualification in library and/or information management, or equivalent experience, you will have experience of collection development and serials management including budget management for both print and electronic serials, ideally in an academic or research library environment. You will be confident supporting researchers with resource access, including through delivering user training programmes and/or enquiry services. In addition, you should have experience of collection project management including implementing or supervising projects and/or service improvements.It is essential that you are able to work collaboratively with colleagues, a wide range of researchers, other teams and stakeholders, and have excellent interpersonal skills and a diplomatic manner, to provide a high-quality service. With excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will be able to deliver training and presentations. You will have excellent organisational skills and demonstrate flexibility to manage multiple tasks and priorities.Interviews are due to take place week commencing 2 December.This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction.
