An exciting opportunity has arisen fora suitably qualified Medical Technical Officer to join the All Wales Medical Genomics Service with a flexible approach to work for 37.5 hours per week.These are permanent, full time posts based at Canolfan Ieychd Genomig Cymru / Wales Genomic Health Centre in Cardiff.Main duties of the jobOur values guide the way we work and the way we behave with others. Post holders will be expected at all times to behave in accordance with our values demonstrating commitment to the delivery of high-quality services to patients.The All Wales Medical Genetics Service (AWMGS) provides a comprehensive clinical genetics and laboratory service clinical genetics services to the 3 million residents of Wales. Welsh Government and the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee are investing in the All Wales Medical Genomics Service to ensure patient equity across the UK in accessing genetic testing methodologies. The investment has seen a £10 million investment over a 3 year period to ensure AWMGS stays in the forefront of genomic medicine and develops the best diagnostic genetic services for patients. The Directorate encourages personal development and you will be expected to take an active part in the appraisal process.   • Experience working in a laboratory, in a work-experience or academic setting

  • Working in a NHS laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory work including need for attention to detail and record keeping.
  • Experience of laboratory work including need for attention to detail and record keeping.
  • Basic Knowledge of genetics including role of DNA and Chromosomes

Special KnowledgeDesirable

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH regulations and protocols and policies within a laboratory
