As part of your comprehensive induction, you will be provided with all the equipment required for your role.The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) Operations & Maintenance Team Member role is vital to the effective and efficient running of our flood defence assets in and around London. You will be joining a team helping with operations and delivering the maintenance across our critical assets working in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to tackle the impacts of climate change and manage the assets that protect Central London from flooding.As part of the Thames Barrier and Associated Gates (TBAG) Engineering Team, you will report to the Operations & Maintenance Team Leader and be part of the Thames Tidal Defences MEICA team.Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on carrying out routine civil maintenance work and repairs.
  • Carrying out environmental site inspections.
  • Operating equipment such as forklifts and pier cranes.
  • Carrying out pre-operation checks on machinery and equipment.
  • Assisting other engineering teams with the delivery of mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Taking a Thames Barrier operational role during trials/flood defence operations.

The teamJoining our friendly and essential London MEICA team you will report to the Operations & Maintenance Team Leader, working alongside an experienced team to assist with operations and planned / reactive maintenance ensuring the reliability of equipment and machinery across Thames Tidal Defences assets.Experience/skills requiredEssential

  • Can work safely, carry out risk assessments and follow method statements.
  • Knowledge and experience of working around equipment and machinery.
  • Some experienced with hand and electric tools.

Highly motivated self-starter.
Computer knowledge and familiar with Microsoft programs.Desirable

  • Experience of operating forklifts and cranes. (If not training will be provided)

Plus £4,267p.a. Inner London Weighting
Plus £4,358p.a. approximately, calculated at £167.62 1 week in 2 standby payment (when trained and competent)
Plus £3,000p.a. Standby Allowance (when trained and competent)Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.
