What will the role look like?In this farmer-facing role, you’ll be responsible for developing strong relationships with our farmer owners and gaining a deep understanding of their sustainability needs. Drawing on your expertise in sustainability and our cooperative’s credentials, you’ll support farmer-owners across a number of sustainability initiatives such as the FarmAheadTM Check (carbon footprint) and FarmAheadTM Incentive (an incentive model linked to actions on farm which is also linked to milk price).As one of a team of five Sustainability Managers, you’ll play a critical role in delivering emission reductions on farm and driving increased Incentive points for farmer owners.Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Building strong relationships with the Sustainability Team and our wider Ag Team members in order to understand the needs of the business and develop shared long-term plans.
  • Understanding the global (Arla) business and connect with colleagues from our other main markets (Denmark, Sweden and Central Europe).
  • Be the contact point for farmer-owners around all things ‘sustainability’.
  • Driving the FarmAheadTM Check agenda forward in order to support our emissions reductions targets.
  • Driving the FarmAheadTM Incentive agenda forward in order to support our farmer owners gain more points, thereby reducing on-farm emissions, improving sustainability on farm and helping our gains gain as much value as possible in the milk price.
  • Planning, organising and delivering Knowledge Building Events across the year.
  • Develop and maintain external stakeholder relationships.

Overall, the Sustainability Manager will need to be a change agent and strong leader who can effectively support the delivery of Arla’s sustainability goals and ambitions – as well as provide support to farmer-owners in how they can go about achieving these.What you’ll need in order to be successful in the role

  • You’ll be farmer-oriented, with experience working with people and within and across teams.
  • Strong background in sustainability
  • Ability to communicate complex challenges clearly
  • A full UK driving license with the flexibility to travel as required

Collaboration and relationship building skills are essential, as you’ll be working closely with stakeholders across our organisation to develop insights and drive sustainability.Things We’d Love To Tell You About Arla
