SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School – HammersmithA vibrant primary school in Hammersmith is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs. This role is integral to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, allowing all students to thrive academically and socially. The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher to implement tailored strategies and ensure that each child receives the attention and resources they need to succeed.Role Highlights
- Full-time position in a supportive primary school dedicated to fostering an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere for students with diverse learning needs.
- Assist in delivering tailored lessons and activities designed to enhance student engagement and facilitate meaningful learning experiences. Collaborate with the classroom teacher to modify lesson plans and adapt instructional materials as necessary.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with varying special educational needs, helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals. This includes assisting with classroom tasks, facilitating social interactions, and encouraging positive behavior.
- Participate in ongoing assessment and monitoring of student progress, helping to identify individual learning goals and adapting support strategies accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with the wider SEN team, including specialists and other support staff, to create a comprehensive support system for students. Engage in regular meetings to discuss student progress and share best practices.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging students to develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning. Support students in building essential social skills and coping strategies for challenges they may face.
- Engage in professional development opportunities, including training sessions focused on SEN best practices and current educational strategies, to continually enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of special education.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children with SEN is preferred, particularly in a primary school setting. Familiarity with various learning difficulties and strategies to support them is beneficial.
- A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting individual learning needs, with the ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues alike. The ability to effectively convey information and provide feedback is essential.
- A commitment to inclusive education, with the flexibility to modify teaching methods based on the diverse needs of students.
- A current and clear Enhanced DBS check is required to ensure the safety and well-being of all students in your care.
