Your Opportunity:An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse (RN) to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary neonatal team in the delivery of care to neonates and their families in a 16-bed level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at South Health Campus (SHC) in Calgary, Alberta. South Health Campus was built with a vision to support patients as close to home and communities as possible. The operational philosophy has been built on Four Pillars. These Pillars guide every facet of operation of the South Health Campus: Collaborative Practice Innovation Patient & Family Centered Care Wellness Neonatal nursing is a subspecialty of nursing that works with newborn infants born with a variety of issues ranging from prematurity, birth defects, infection, cardiac malformations and surgical. Caring for the youngest and smallest of patients, attention to detail and critical thinking are essential to the neonatal nurse’s role. A high level of competency and proficiency is also required in order to work within this highly technical area. Nurses should be able to evaluate challenging situations and make quick judgments based on the fluctuating health status of NICU patients. Additionally, they need to be able to maintain a level-head when faced with ethical and emotional situations, and care for families with an empathetic understanding of their situation.Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour – $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
