Babcock is seeking a talented and dedicated Assistant Buyer to support our E&MS Procurement & Supply Management team. As the Assistant Buyer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of the requisition-to-pay process within a defined scope and aligned with requistioner delegation of authority. Objectives for this role will include execution of established supply agreements; requisition to order conversion, order book management, expediting and payment and maintaining the quality of the demand from Business Unit’s projectsDay-to-day, you’ll:

  • Execute the requisition-to-order process within agreed service levels, up to £2m.
  • Support Buyers in contract management, order book management, and expediting to meet business requirements.
  • Assist in supplier on-boarding and qualification processes.
  • Ensure compliance with technical and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate master data.

This role is full-time, 36 hours per week, and offered on a 52 week fixed term contract basis. It provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.Essential experience of the Assistant Buyer

  • Basic knowledge of current operational procurement techniques
  • Basic knowledge of ERP systems for example, IFS, SAP, Oracle.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative approach.

Qualifications for the Assistant Buyer

  • Qualified to NQ level or equivalent through work experience
  • Willingness to study towards MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications
