  • Creating the conditions/opportunities/environment, that brings out the “best” in the team; ensuring the safe, efficient execution, including identification of multi-skilling opportunities, of the work/schedule.
  • Providing leadership to a team of trades and lead hands, including setting performance standards for the team, measuring deviations, and taking corrective action towards improvement through individual training plans, performance appraisals, and lessons learned analysis for technical leadership and administrative aspects.
  • Participating in and leading hiring, goal setting, performance evaluation, career development, promotion, and disciplinary actions. Actively participating in incident investigations, return to work meetings, and management of bioassay requirements.
  • Reviewing and signing off on work plans and packages, including advising on fabrication, material issues, and alternative approaches to construction/manufacturing methods in consultation with necessary parties.
  • Interfacing with maintenance work groups to oversee the schedule and determine required resources for completing jobs and scheduling conflicts. Ensuring the work is being carried out per schedule and customers’ expectations. Completing walk-downs as required with appropriate customers, trades, landlords, Engineers, etc.
  • Ensuring a regular field presence to establish safety compliance, schedule focus, and customer satisfaction. Completing day-to-day pre-job briefs, visual whiteboards, post-job briefs, and assigning work to employees.
  • Attending and chairing all required meetings as required.

  • Managing performance by setting goals aligned with CNL’s priorities, providing support and coaching, and holding individuals accountable.
  • Ensuring all team members use applicable safety equipment and adhering to safe work policies/practices, radiation protection policies/practices, and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization.
  • Establishing a safe work environment and ensuring safety is paramount in all activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Post-secondary education with a minimum of 5 years of technical or maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience
  • Leadership or Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to inspire and lead others with demonstrated interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues and management.
  • Demonstrated experience understanding and implementing regulatory and company requirements and processes and knowledge of union agreements.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to direct the fabrication construction, installation, and inspection of a variety of complex equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings and interpret complex construction drawings.
  • Adhere to job budgets/schedules and to meet deadlines.
  • Initiative to resolve problems and expedite resources, work plans, or other appropriate actions.
  • Good knowledge of software systems such as CMMS, ORACLE, and/or other applicable programs.
  • Self-motivated, possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and is able to interact with peers, other departments, and external vendors.
  • Ability to self-manage and perform administrative responsibilities related to various tasks.
  • Accountable to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets for the zone.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
