The branch is responsible for the day-to-day operations related to community housing, including lease management, rent collection, and support services to tenants to help them maintain their tenancies successfully.Reporting to the Manager, Housing Programs this position will provide support to staff working in the Communities outside of Whitehorse. With a focus on the unique aspects of each rural community, the Supervisor, Community Housing works to ensure fair and equitable services to Yukoners. This position ensures the policies and practices of the Housing Operations Branch are adhered to through the administration of the Rent Geared to Income (RGI) and Employee Housing Programs.Essential QualificationsPlease submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications.   • Post-secondary education in social sciences, business or a relevant discipline
  • Experience leading a team including providing direction and performance feedback
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment with diverse client groups, preferably with vulnerable populations, using case management principles
  • Decision making skills that demonstrate the ability to be consistent and responsive while balancing the needs of client, program, communities and government
  • Experience at the community level in building relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders

Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative, brainstorm and implement solutions
  • Can work independently and flexibly in an environment that requires continuous monitoring and reprioritizing of priorities
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • A solid understanding of both procurement and finance processes

Conditions of employment:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • Valid security clearance including vulnerable sector

Job Requirements:

  • Travel up to 50% of the time to cover community office absences and to support training and on-boarding of new employees on the community team.
