As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.What you will be doing:With this opportunity you will be directly accountable to the Director Safety, Security and Licensee Authority and independent of the Licensees’ operational organisation, leading a team responsible for independent oversight of site activities in accordance with the authority specified within the internal Regulation Mandate to provide independent challenge and assurance. You will be expected to:

  • Lead the Internal Regulation team, to provide sufficient capable and competent resources to discharge a risk proportionate level of oversight activities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver a resource loaded Internal Regulation Plan of independent oversight of all areas and activities falling within the Internal Regulation Mandate, taking account of other assurance and regulatory interventions.
  • Engage key stakeholders including the board to identify and influence the management of significant risks and provide concurrence to significant safety related changes.
  • Liaise with external regulators, Rolls-Royce corporate functions, industry working groups and benchmarking organisations to maintain relevant good practice for Health, Safety, Security and Environment matters and independent oversight.

  • Experienced in the design or operation of nuclear, conventional and/or high-hazard facilities and their regulation within the UK (including nuclear, radiological and environmental safety, security & safeguards) with good working knowledge of modern standard safety case methodologies, implementation and techniques.
  • Experienced in a safety or security assurance/auditing role within nuclear, defence or other high-hazard sites – COMAH Tier 1, Chemical, Oil and Gas, Petrochem
  • An experienced leader who has had direct responsibility for technical/specialist resources with good technical and management skills including problem solving, decision-making, presentation skills and ability to adapt the communication method to suit different audiences and levels
  • An excellent communicator, who is persuasive and capable of influencing internal/external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong minded and resilient in difficult situations, maintains a questioning attitude and robust approach in providing independent challenge and advice. Someone who can give and receive challenge in a positive and constructive manner
