Here are a few of your responsibilities with this position:

  • Assist students with special educational needs (SEN) in their learning and development by collaborating closely with the class instructor.
  • Support students one-on-one or in small groups, tailoring instruction and resources to each student’s unique requirements.
  • Encourage a welcoming and inclusive learning environment to make sure all students experience support and value.
  • Work together to establish an extensive support system with other experts, including educational psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.
  • Have faith in behaviour management plans and DE-escalation tactics.
  • Help with feeding, using the restroom, and moving around as needed for personal care.
  • Have comfort and confidence when working with kids who have special education needs and health issues.

The following conditions must be met in order to be cleared as a SEN teaching assistant:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Must Provide 2 proven professional references
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEN and a patient, empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs, providing personalised support to each student.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and stay updated with the latest SEN strategies and techniques.
