Overview of position
– To support the implementation of Polio SIAs campaign in the provinces
– To support Routine Immunization in the province
Role objectives
Under the direct supervision of the WHO Polio Team Leader/Medical Officer and the overall supervision of the WHO representative, the Senior Central PEI Officer will undertake the following duties:
1. Assist the Ministry of Public Health in planning, supervision and monitoring of supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) in the country.
2. Carry out regular field visits to monitor PEI activities including the performance of Permanent Polio Teams and other special interventions in selected provinces/districts.
3. Collect, review and analyze campaign and post-campaign related data and present these in meetings at various levels.
4. Coordinate with all the partners in PEI and provide evidence-based feedback for solution-oriented actions at all levels by the Ministry of Public Health.
5. Provide regular reports to the Ministry of Public Health before and after each SIAs and coordinate closely with all the partners in health and social sectors, where applicable.
6. Monitor the progress of SIAs, AFP surveillance and EPI routine immunization by each district and provide timely feedback for actions.
7. Facilitate and monitor training and capacity building activities among national staff in the country.
8. Participate in internal reviews in the country.
9. Represent the organization at national and international conferences and meetings.
10. Assist MoPH to strengthen routine EPI activities at each level in the country.
11. Assist Team Leader/Deputy Team Leaders in any other assigned tasks and submit both, monthly activity plan and activity/mission report.
Qualifications required:
• More than 10 years of experience in the PEI program or equivalent experience.
• Medical Degree.
• Results oriented in the context of the PEI program.
• Strong proven leadership skills to guide and manage a team.
• Strong proven skills on negotiation and in planning, overseeing and supervising PEI activities.
• Strong proven skills on presenting technical facts to PEI partners and in report writing.
• Very good knowledge of English and local languages.
• Very good knowledge of Windows Office 2010 and higher.
• Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team and to adapt to diverse educational and cultural background and maintain high standards of personal conduct.
• Willingness to conduct regular supportive supervisory field visits and to work long hours and weekends, when required.

Educations:
Essential: Completion of medical degree (MD/ Bachelor of Medicine)
Desirable: Masters in any Public Health discipline
Experience:
Essential: More than 10 years of relevant experience (Polio and Routine Immunization activities).
Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN and NGO system
Languages: Good knowledge of English and fluent in the local language.
IT Skills:
– Good knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Power point).
