We are recruiting for a rewarding role as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant within a supportive school environment. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with children who have a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and speech and language delays. The successful candidate will play a key role in adapting lessons, fostering positive behaviour, and nurturing growth for pupils with varied learning styles and abilities.Key Responsibilities:
- Modify lessons to suit diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Provide tailored support to pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, PDA, and speech and language delays.
- Implement behaviour management strategies, including the use of visual aids and maintaining structured routines.
- Work effectively in 1:1 settings, small groups, and across classrooms.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and deliver engaging learning experiences.
- Monitor and support students’ progress and well-being.
Essential Experience/Attributes:
- Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and speech and language delays.
- A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
- A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
- The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to the needs of the pupils.
- Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
- Qualifications in education, special educational needs, counselling or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
