We strive to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to detect and treat children suffering from cancer earlier, better and with reduced impact on their life. To reach this goal, we use mass spectrometry-based proteomics; biochemistry; cell biology; and molecular biology approaches to study protein function and modification in childhood cancers and develop precision medicine pipelines. We are highly collaborative at the local, national and international levels. Our work has and continues to advance understanding of protein modification, improve proteomic investigation on small patient biopsies and changed patient care.We are seeking an exceptional research technician (mass spectrometry / laboratory management) to pursue this goal together with us and join our dynamic translational research team. Your main role will be maintaining the group’s mass spectrometers and contributing to the team’s research activities by performing proteomics sample preparation and assisting with method development. You will also be responsible for laboratory management and will conduct experiments designed to improve technology and investigate protein function and modification in cultured cells, animal models and patient biopsies. We are seeking an experienced individual with strong skills and expertise in proteomics, mass spectrometry and biochemistry as well as autonomy in design, execution and statistical analysis of experiments. We Offer:A dynamic and diverse work environment. An attractive compensation package including health benefitsThe opportunity to take the lead in building a new mass spectrometry facility at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. The opportunity to work with and learn from world experts in proteomics at UBC, BC Cancer Research Centre and the BCCHRI.The opportunity to conduct research and develop new methods.Plentiful opportunities to advance your skills and take on new roles.Organizational Status
