Job Title: Sr. Business AnalystLocation: Toronto or Vancouver or Halifax (Hybrid)Job Type: Full Time Perm.Key Skill set –Strong excel skills, who has worked on finance projects,Knowledge of products/accounting/balance sheet/income statement would be helpful and someone who has worked on large spreadsheets.If has Axiom experience – that would be a huge plusJD:The business analyst responsibilities will include analyzing and documenting all Finance requirements for new project and/or modifications to existing system/process, liaise with IT developers to communicate those requirements and communicate to project leadership team on project status throughout the project lifecycle.BA candidates should have representative experience in the following areas:

  • Lead the requirements gathering and analytical efforts related to Regulatory Reporting and Financial Control initiatives.
  • Ability to interpret Regulatory Regulations into development requirements/specifications as required for report development.
  • Creation of business requirement documentation (BRD) and functional requirements documentation (FRD).
  • Ability to lead the translation of Finance’s regulatory requirements into data sourcing requirements/specifications as required for report development.
  • Perform gap analysis on data, systems, processes and procedures as required for the project.
  • Close alignment with the development teams to ensure realistic plans are developed, respective milestones tracked, met and reporting provided
  • Contribute to process re-engineering and process improvement where applicable.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems implementation, process improvements or systems re-engineering projects with a banking organization or consulting company with background in Regulatory or Financial Reporting. Specific experience includes:

  • Lead engagement with US Reg Apps and Axiom development teams to translate current interface specification requirements to new interface specification requirements.
  • Develop and document current state environment and processing flows.
  • Seeks out industry trends and regulatory knowledge to understand alternative approaches and/or solutions.
  • Contribute to process re-engineering and process improvement where applicable
  • Analysis of systems should include identification of functionality gaps in system and/or process
  • Reference data analysis and documentation-product and counterparty static.
  • Ensure GAP analysis is done for all related changes to existing IT systems, processes, procedures and/or interfaces.
  • Develop functional and technical specifications (where appropriate).
  • Liaise with US RegApps and Axiom IT developers to communicate data sourcing / system requirements and current/future state architecture.
  • Communicate project status as necessary to project manager.
  • Knowledge of Investment banking products.
  • Knowledge of project SDLC lifecycle

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in Business Analysis/Project management
  • Experience in US or foreign banking organization (commercial bank or broker dealer), Bank Holding Company regulatory reporting
  • Minimal requirements – MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel, Visio
  • Experience with Axiom preferred
  • Proficient in data analysis using SQL
  • Experience with logical and physical models, proof of concept to implementation.
  • Experience in documenting Business Requirements, Functional Requirements and Interface Specifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Highly analytical and willing to lead work through root cause analysis on process, capability, and data issues; and to effectively facilitate collaboration on resolution
  • Experience in data analytics, control, reconciliation and remediation
  • Driving excellence in his/her own projects and peers
