Our client, a growing rail contractor in Ireland are actively hiring Overhead Line operatives to join their team in Cork. Successful candidates will initially work on a project in Cork and then on various locations across Ireland. Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance:
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead electric lines, including catenary systems, contact wires, and support structures for rail electrification.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of both personnel and the public.
- Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of overhead line equipment to identify and address any issues or wear before they affect the rail system’s performance.
- Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and rectify faults in the overhead line system, including addressing issues related to electrical faults, mechanical failures, or damage.
- Coordination:
- Work closely with other team members, including engineers and project managers, to ensure work is integrated smoothly with other aspects of the rail project.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in the installation and maintenance of overhead lines, such as cranes, cherry pickers, and other lifting equipment.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and modifications, and report on progress to supervisors or project managers.
- Compliance with Standards:
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with industry standards, engineering specifications, and project requirements.
- Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies related to overhead line failures, including coordinating with emergency services and implementing contingency plans.
- Training and Development:
- Continuously update skills and knowledge related to overhead line systems and safety practices through training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
- Over 5 years of experience working as an OLEC linesman in railway environments.
- Skilled in repairing and inspecting overhead line systems.
- Possess a valid Safe Pass certification.
- Hold a current Manual Handling Certificate.
- Irish Rail Personal Track Safety certification is a plus.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
- First Aid certification is advantageous.
- Demonstrated strong track record with positive references.
- Proficient in English.
