  • Performing preventive maintenance and corrective work, commissioning on piping systems and associated equipment in order to maintain the site infrastructure and productive facilities.
  • Constructing, fabricating, and installing piping systems and associated equipment including the removal of piping, equipment, and hazards in a controlled manner.
  • Decommissioning of piping systems and associated equipment, including the removal of piping, equipment, and hazards, is performed in a controlled manner.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, work packages, and reference materials to ensure that the scope of a given job is fully understood and that all aspects of the job have been considered and comply with CNL regulations and all applicable codes.
  • Interpreting and following maintenance records and route sheets and signing the appropriate sign-off sections to comply with quality control manuals.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping practices of all work areas, tools, and equipment, adhering to provincial, federal, and CNL regulations to provide a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Attending monthly safety meetings and immediately reporting any safety concerns and/or infractions.
  • Assisting in the training, coaching, and mentoring of trainees in safe workshop practices and procedures, including work planning, assisting, and developing skills by demonstrating techniques and describing suitable methods.
  • Monitoring, assessing, and correcting work performance, discussing problems and improvements and reporting progress
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Secondary school graduation diploma and qualification as a Plumber/Steamfitter, typically acquired through the completion of the required 9000-hour apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Experience
  • No experience is necessary, but it would be an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes and standards, including Canadian Standards Act B51.1, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and National Fire Protection Association to provide a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Demonstrated use and endorsement of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Written and verbal communication skills to work in multi-trade groups and communicate with CNL staff across a broad range of disciplines to ensure proper coordination and prioritization of work.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings to determine cut sizes and piping runs with the ability to cross-reference between the technical drawings and parts list with a thorough understanding of the job scope in question.
  • Operate standard shop/hand and portable power tools, fittings/calibration equipment, and standard machine tools to perform duties in a controlled and safe manner.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • The ability to work in varying weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors. This may include confined spaces, heights, and radiation areas.
  • 4-day work week, 10-hour shifts
