An exciting opportunity has risen to join the fantastic Adult Mental Health Team for the Merthyr Locality of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. This would involve working with the team base at Keir Hardie Health Park.The localities of Taff-Ely, Merthyr, Cynon and Bridgend all have Substantive Consultants in place with well-established teams.
Several of the current Consultants were appointed in the last 5 years and there is a very supportive peer-group.The services are committed to providing excellent patient care in an environment which also supports the development and wellbeing of all team members and support staff.Education and training is prioritised, including inter professional education and team reflection.Quality improvement work, research and teaching are encouraged and supported.
Their resilience, superb team work and close working nature with other colleagues makes the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Adult Mental Health Teams team stand out- Teams that anyone would be proud to work with!The postholder will be required to liaise with other senior clinicians as and when necessary.The post holder will be expected to*Provide clinical expertise and leadership to a defined multidisciplinary community mental health team.
- Provide specialist assessment and clinical management of patients aged 18 and over with mental health problems referred from within the locality.
*Manage a small caseload of stable and complex patients as Care Coordinator as defined by the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and to undertake the appropriate clinical and statutory responsibilities of this role.*Provide medical liaison and advice to the Primary Mental Health Support Service and local GPs on a sessional basis.
- Provide supervision for the speciality doctor and core trainee, and to a Specialist Registrar if the post holder is approved as trainer and an SpR is allocated to the team.
- Liaise effectively with members of the team, other services within the Health Board, general practitioners and other agencies.
- Contribute to the management of the service by attendance at appropriate committees and meetings, by involvement in audit and by taking on specific management roles which may, from time to time, be agreed.
- Play an active role in the education and training of medical, nursing and other staff.
- Maintain their professional knowledge base and competency by involvement in continuing professional development (CPD) and to take part in the Wales Revalidation Process which includes annual appraisals for the purposes of revalidation.
- Take part in the consultant on-call rota within the Mental Health Directorate.
- Undertake responsibilities under the Mental Health Act as a s.12 approved doctor and as an Approved Clinician.
*Undertake responsibilities under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
The post holder will be responsible for organising their professional day and for ensuring that they can be contacted at all times during working hours.

Outpatient clinics including PMHSS 3.0 sessions.
Clinical reviews including CTP reviews 1.0 sessions.
Ward round 1.0 session.
Clinical administration including MHA work, SPOE meeting 1.0 sessions.
SPA including CPD, audit, research teaching 3.0 sessions.
General administration including management, clinical supervision 1.0 sessions.
