The Shrewsbury South Community Nursing Team has a vacancy for a Community Healthcare Assistant (HCA).Under the supervision and support from the team you will be required to visit patients in their own homes providing clinical care.We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and a passion for caring for patients in their own homes.There is an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake our in-house development program for extended skills which will involve insulin administration, injections and wound care.Please note this vacancy may close early if a high volume of applications is received, we advise you to submit your applications early to avoid disappointment.Main duties of the job

  • Promotes a ‘can do’ attitude and determination to develop and sustain a dynamic and responsive administrative and operational service within a community setting which delivers best practice.
  • Able to implement interventions, liaising with colleagues and partners to ensure an integrated approach to the needs of the service user.
  • To organise and deliver skilled clinical support work without direct supervision.
  • To manage clinical risk within delegated patient caseload, referring to the supervising clinician for support and supervision.

  • Satisfactory enhanced criminal records bureau disclosure
  • To be competent in phlebotomy, wound dressings and general patient care.

  • Recent experience of working in the community.

Knowledge and SkillsEssential

  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to take direction from senior staff
  • Good standard of written English
  • Basic IT skills
  • Knowledge and experience of caring for people within a secure environment
  • Effective interpersonal skills
