Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As a Senior Financial Consultant, you will provide strategic Financial Accounting expertise and day-to-day financial claims analysis and adjudication support for Disability Claims. You will support the protection of RBC assets including mitigating financial, reputational, regulatory and legal risk, and be the technical lead and communicator of financial adjudication best practices. You will also conduct quality assurance reviews for financial adjudication, while also being responsible for communicating directly (by telephone) with all of our clients regarding financial requirements and analysis when appropriate.What will you do?
- Provide legal analysis and litigation support with particular emphasis on maintaining a high standard of documentation and financial analysis to ensure successful litigation leading to recovery as appropriate.
- Conduct forensic accounting /auditing including arrears calculations for settlement purposes on litigated claims
- Analyze and Review independent 3rd party Forensic Reports provided in litigation cases
- Advise executive and senior management and product and process owners of financial adjudication issues, significant control weaknesses or deficiencies and trends identified during financial claims analysis.
- Communicate directly with clients, brokers, legal counsel, and financial experts by telephone when appropriate
- Review and analyze external accountant’s/lawyer’s calculations or position with respect to any financial matters of a litigated claim
- Prepare sensitivity analysis, trending slides, graphs, tables for Legal
- Conduct forensic annual reconciliations of residual claims and provide direction and feedback to claim adjudicators
- Develop and implement financial training initiatives for disability claims to promote superior financial adjudication
Here’s what we need from you:Must-Have:
- 7-10 years of forensic accounting, audit and taxation experience
- Canadian Accounting Designation
- Proven analytical, problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify additional sources to uncover vital information not otherwise available
- Ability to prepare reports, monitor progress on objectives and identify gaps for effective financial adjudication
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; proven ability to work collaboratively with all levels and to demonstrate a high degree of customer service
- Demonstrated ability in training & mentoring
- Excellent oral & written communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Nice to Have
- Bilingualism in French/English
- Disability Claims Experience and knowledge of financial-related policy provisions
- Ability to effectively manage change
