Terms of Reference (ToR) Position Title: Employment Skills Consultant Project: Supporting a Resilient Economic Recovery by Strengthening Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Creating Job Opportunities for Young Graduates. Location: [Dhi-Qar]
Duration: [2 Month]
Reporting To: Project Manager
Background: Career counseling and guidance are crucial for empowering youth to make informed decisions about their education and professional development. Watad for Social Stability, with the support of Islamic Relief (IR), is implementing a project to provide career counseling services for youth. This initiative will equip young individuals with the tools needed to explore career options, create effective resumes and cover letters, and enhance their interview skills. The ultimate goal is to enable youth to navigate the job market with confidence, align their career choices with personal values and interests, and pursue successful and fulfilling careers.
Objective of the Consultancy: The Employment Skills Consultant will provide expert guidance and training to facilitate career counseling services. The consultant will empower youth with the skills and confidence needed to compete in the job market and achieve their career aspirations.
Key Responsibilities: The Employment Skills Consultant will be responsible for:
1. Career Counseling:
o Conducting individual and or/ group career counseling sessions.
o Assisting participants in identifying career options aligned with their interests and aspirations.
2. Resume and Cover Letter Development:
o Delivering workshops on effective resume and cover letter writing.
o Providing tailored feedback to participants to improve their application documents.
3. Interview Skills Development:
o Conducting interactive training sessions on interview preparation.
o Organizing mock interviews to help participants practice and refine their skills.
4. Coordination and Reporting:
o Collaborating with Watad’s project team and IR representatives to ensure alignment with project objectives.
o Preparing detailed reports on activities conducted, participant feedback, challenges, and recommendations.
Deliverables:
1. A detailed work plan and schedule of activities.
2. Career counseling sessions and training workshops delivered to youth beneficiaries.
3. Templates and tools for resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation.
4. A final report summarizing activities, outcomes, and recommendations for future improvements.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Qualifications and Experience: The ideal candidate will possess:
• A degree in Career Counseling, Human Resources, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
• Proven experience in career counseling, employment skills training, or similar roles.
• Expertise in job market navigation, including resume writing and interview preparation.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with youth in development or humanitarian contexts is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in [English is Plus].
Duration and Timeline: The consultancy is expected to commence on [December 2024] and conclude on [ February 2024].
The consultant will work [full-time or part-time] during this period.
