This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Speech and Language Therapist who is keen to join our dynamic and friendly team providing Speech & Language Therapy services to children & young people in Gloucestershire.The post offers an opportunity to work with early years and school aged children with a range of speech, language and communication needs. We work creatively with parents, settings and other professionals to provide appropriate intervention packages using a care aims framework.The post holder will be responsible for assessing, treating, managing and prioritising a designated caseload of children with speech, language and communication needs in community clinics.They will provide advice to parents and other professionals in order to support the needs of children with speech, language and communication difficulties in line with the Care Aims approach including agreeing outcomes with key adults supporting the children on the caseload.We welcome applications from newly qualified nursesMain duties of the jobAs a Band 5, the post holder will work under the close supervision of a clinical supervisor as well as be supported by their designated line manager:

  • To independently assess, diagnose, plan and deliver an appropriate therapeutic service to children who have any type of speech and language / communication difficulty, working with the care aims framework.
  • To analyse complex cases in order to inform decision making for case management, working within the care aims framework to design appropriate evidence based intervention to meet the needs of children aged 0 -19 referred to the SLT service.
  • To provide advice, information, demonstration and training where necessary concerning specific strategies of intervention for the management of the child’s communication difficulties.
  • To provide timely reports to parents / carers and other professionals to ensure that the child’s needs are appropriately identified.
  • To contribute to Individual Education Plans, write EHC Plans to SEND Casework Officers in line with the SEND graduated pathway.

In addition to the programme we also offer all preceptees the opportunity of enrolling and completing the level 7 (Masters) 15 credit validated module Preceptorship for Healthcare (AP7026).Newly qualified Social Workers are offered the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme (ASYE) which is similar to a preceptorship programme.
