As the Maternal Child Lead RT II for Respiratory Therapy in Red Deer Regional Hospital, you will be a clinical practitioner who provides leadership, clinical/technical and educational support and routine/preventative maintenance of respiratory related equipment for the RDRHC Maternal/Child Care Department, and excellence in respiratory care in the Maternal Child units at the RDRHC. This position also works and provides leadership as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care and assistance to various areas in the RDRHC. You will be responsible for direct patient care and will also have the opportunity to mentor, teach and interact with residents, students, and new staff. The Respiratory Therapist II Maternal/Child Lead is responsible for therapeutic and educational respiratory health services to all Mat/Child patient areas within Red Deer Regional Hospital in accordance with developed and approved treatment protocols, guidance documents and procedures.Description:As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.

Required Qualifications:Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Additional Required Qualifications:Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy required. Current BCLS-HCP certification, NRP required. Demonstrated evidence-based skill in mechanical ventilation. Demonstrated ability to work under finite timelines and handle competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and foster partnerships. Demonstrated leadership and role modeling. Demonstrated clear and effective communication skill in critical situations, as well as in writing. Experience with Connect Care documentation. Experience in computer applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, e-Critical, Connect Care) is desired. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Preferred Qualifications:Post graduate education in maternal child and neonatal critical care, preceptorship and leadership preferred. Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
