We are seeking a qualified actuary to join the Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland (ALPI) Pricing & Reinsurance team to lead on the design, implementation and oversight of the ALPI reinsurance strategy.This is an excellent opportunity for an actuary to work in a commercial team, supporting ALPI’s expansive growth strategy. As part of the Pricing & Reinsurance area, you will work with an experienced team across the full product range sold in the Irish market.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage protection reinsurance structures to ensure that they are optimised from a profitability and capital perspective.
  • Lead on engagement for tenders with external reinsurers, including collation of the necessary experience data.
  • Develop strong relationships with both internal and external reinsurers.
  • Lead on identifying and implementing reinsurance solutions to optimise ALPI’s capital position.
  • Work closely with different parts of Aviva Group to explore internal reinsurance options.
  • Review ALPI’s reinsurance strategy annually and present to the Board.
  • Review and manage ALPI’s reinsurance framework.
  • Engage with other key areas of the business– Financial Reporting, Reinsurance Admin, Legal etc.

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified actuary with extensive experience in life and pensions within the insurance industry
  • Experience with reinsurance structures including Protection (Individual and Group) and Financial
  • Knowledge of the Irish commercial and regulatory environment
  • Strong Prophet and Excel knowledge with SQL or Python ability also an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Solvency II methodology
  • Confident communicator, with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with evidence of a career track record of achievement
  • Delivery focused with a flexible attitude and approach.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously and manage expectations accordingly.
