Job Title: Assistant Finance and Administrative Officer
Reporting to: Administrative and Finance Manager
Hours: 40 hours per week
Status: Initial one-year contract, with potential extension
Salary: Negotiable
Principal Location: Buea, with frequent travel within Cameroon as necessary

Role Purpose:

Under the overall responsibility of the Country Director of Street Child of Cameroon, and with the direct supervision of the Administrative and Finance Manager, provide support for day-to-day financial administration and grants management working very closely with the Senior Finance Officer and national partner finance team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Assist the finance lead & partner finance team to ensure that timely and accurate payments are made
  • Coordinate with project team for issuance and reconciliation of advances and expenses.
  • Ensure completeness of supporting documentation for project activities (eg. attendance sheets, signatures, ID cards).
  • Ensure the transactions are entered into the accounting system on regular basis.
  • Ensure financial documents are properly filed and uploaded in the cloud.
  • Assist in the preparation of and timely submission of information for reports.
  • Provides support during audit and external assurances review.

Petty Cash and Banking:

  • Processing of petty cash transactions and ensuring petty cash is replenished
  • Carry out cash count as per the policy
  • Liaise with/visit the bank as needed for collection and submission of documents, as directed by the Finance Lead or Programme Manager
  • Assist in monthly bank & account reconciliation.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Provide general financial, administrative or logistics support as required for the office management and for projects
  • Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • A Degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking and Finance or other related field of study
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience directly supporting/managing Finance, HR and administration within an INGO preferably in Cameroon.
  • Experience working for an INGO, knowledge of major donor’s compliance requirements
  • Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills in English and French
  • Possess strong accuracy, attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to travel.
