Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in CheadleTeaching Personnel is excited to offer an opportunity for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Cheadle. This full-time position starts in January and runs until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent role depending on performance. The role offers a weekly salary of £419.25 – £500, based on qualifications and experience.Role OverviewThis role is ideal for a psychology graduate seeking hands-on experience in an educational setting, particularly if you are exploring a career in education, child psychology, or special educational needs (SEN) support. You will work closely with students and staff to enhance learning experiences and provide essential support to young people in their academic and personal development.Key Responsibilities

  • Student Support: Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students, addressing their individual needs and encouraging their academic progress.
  • SEN Assistance: Work closely with students who have special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, or emotional and behavioral difficulties, to ensure they are fully supported in accessing the curriculum.
  • Intervention Programs: Deliver targeted interventions to support students’ learning, social skills, and emotional well-being.
  • Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment. This may involve helping with lesson preparation and supporting students during lessons.
  • Emotional Well-being Support: Act as a mentor to students, promoting confidence, resilience, and positive self-esteem.
  • Progress Monitoring: Observe and document students’ progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and contributing to tailored support plans.
  • Behavior Management: Promote positive behavior strategies, working with students to address and overcome barriers to learning.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Psychology Graduate: A degree in psychology or a closely related field is essential.
  • Interest in Education: A genuine passion for working with young people, particularly those with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: The ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff, and to communicate effectively.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Flexible and proactive in meeting the dynamic needs of the school environment.
  • Experience (Preferred): Previous experience working with children or young people, especially in a school or care setting, is advantageous but not essential.
