They have a passion for training, development and mentoring people. The nature of this role job to help to build safety culture within the delegates and train them up on the relevant rules and regulations. You are the first point of contact for learners to help answer questions, give feedback and guide them on how to apply the rules practically to enable them to become front line staff.Trainers not only deliver the course they also run practical observations and assess written assessments and give feedback to the delegates to allow them to improve and understand what they got wrong. You also give feedback in the form of reports on EDS for the line managers.About the role (External)Do you need to hold a teaching degree / What training do you have for the role?The answer is no you don’t have to already hold a teaching degree. Network rail trains all our trainers up in the relevant teaching and assessors’ qualifications to enable you to carry out your role.The training for the role is 6 weeks long, this entails everything from how to deliver the course you will be teaching to how to run the simulators for both training and practical observations as well as how to mark the assessments. Following the training you will also have support from the Training delivery manager for the region to help you acclimate into the role, other lead trainers are also always there for support and questions, as well as the Senior trainers.Throughout each year you are given periodical standardisation tests to mark, this means that network rail continually aims to maintain a high base standard of marking from trainers. You additionally are trained in how to create reports and log feedback for the delegates progress on the internal systems we use and are provided with the materials that we use for delivering the course.There is also the opportunity to progress within the role to roles such as Senior trainer or Training delivery manager in the future.What are the shifts / working week like?As a trainer you work mainly Monday to Friday and might be required to travel on a Sunday for training purposes. It is a 35 hour average role, as a rule trainers do not work public or bank holidays. You would be notified by HR if you were required to work a public or bank holiday on an annual basis. The full details will be listed in the job offer should you be successful for the role.What are the locations like?When teams are full you will mostly be based in a static training location most of the time. Please note though that you might be asked to cover other locations if the team is not full, or if the business needs require it. If you are required to work from a different location your travel, hotel and food will be paid for you. These locations specifics will be shown in your job offer and explained to you should you be successful for the role.Essential

- A background, experience, or qualification in adult learning
