Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?You will support the continued growth of RBC Capital Markets (RBC CM) globally. This senior leadership role is responsible for leading the CM wide Productivity & Efficiency program including standing up the new CM Supplier Optimization function.What will you do?Productivity & Efficiency Leadership

  • Set the strategic direction and measuring progress against annual and longer term productivity & efficiency objectives for Capital Markets as set by the CM CEO, CM COO, CM CFO and the wider Capital Markets Operating Committee
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends and apply extensive Capital Markets knowledge to ensure best in class solutions that transform business results
  • Build and sustain the CM wide productivity & efficiency benefits inventory which should, at all times, be the ‘single source of truth’ as it relates to the portfolio of initiatives executed on, in flight or planned that support our productivity & efficiency objectives
  • Provide advice, guidance and challenge to senior leaders across CM on cost reduction strategies & transformation and productivity & efficiency in general
  • Enhance cost transparency by introducing new ways of identifying efficiencies and new ways of working to create value for RBC CM clients, shareholders, and employees
  • Develop metrics and reporting to measure progress against productivity and efficiency targets
  • Unlock efficiency opportunities derived through cross business/functional ‘Horizontal’ opportunities both across Capital Markets and enterprise wide

Supplier Optimization Leadership

  • Build, maintain, and communicate cost category strategies that includes category insights & trends, productivity & efficiency targets, pipeline of cost reduction opportunities, details on primary relationships and upcoming negotiations and benchmarking (if appropriate) for all major cost categories for Capital Markets (Trade Execution, Market Data, IT / Software, Data Services, Contractor – staff aug, Consulting)
  • Coordinate and provide resourcing support and transparency for senior supplier managers (top ~100 vendors) across Capital Markets in relation to supplier negotiation efforts, 360 views of our relationship and cost optimization opportunities
  • Market Data costs: lead enterprise wide Market Data Services team that oversees all contract negotiations, service demand management, supplier management efforts, cost optimization efforts pertaining to Market Data costs for the bank
  • Trade Execution costs: lead team , support / guide / resource as may be required Global Markets cost optimization efforts

What you need to succeed?

  • University degree in a related field
  • An experienced executive within the Capital Markets or Financial Services industry with a background in cost transformation and/or finance
  • Experience shaping and evolving a new role and operating in a highly complex and fast-paced environment
  • Experience assessing and evolving business transformation and presenting a plan that will guide to the right outcomes
  • Professional agility and adaptability necessary to lead this evolving function successfully
  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination of large cross-functional programs/projects
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and establishing new business processes and forming strong relationships across front and back office businesses and functions.
  • Possesses a blend of capital markets business acumen and functional expertise, blended with the requisite people and relationship skills needed to navigate technical and territorial obstacles.
  • The ability and interest to work in a team-based and collegial environment where consensus-building is a significant key to overall success.
  • Strategic mindset with clarity of purpose to articulate a vision and bring the solution to life
  • Integrator with wide perspective and creative thinking and ability to distill issues down to present viable solutions
  • Strong people leadership skills to manage, motivate and inspire a multi-disciplinary workforce
  • Highly collaborative relationship builder who can impact and influence senior stakeholders outside of span of authority
  • Strong change management capability to support the evolving nature of business requirements
  • Capital Markets knowledge / experience
