Steps away from the main public transit stationWhat we offer:Highly competitive compensation package which includes, base salary, bonus, benefits, and career advancement opportunities!*Eligibility for benefits is dependent on the terms of employmentThe OpportunityThe Associate Analyst contributes to the production and development of the commercial mortgage portfolio by analyzing financial and supporting documents on incoming applications consistent with internal, insurer and investor policies.How you will contribute:

  • Analyze financial information on commercial properties including rent rolls, operating statements and financial/net worth statements, to assist management in determining the appropriate loan size, terms, conditions and pricing
  • Learn the basics of underwriting of simple income producing property
  • Learn how to identify risk and ways to mitigate risks associated with underwriting
  • Review third party reports including appraisal, phase 1/2 environmental reports and engineering reports, to determine compliance with investor requirements, product lending, guidelines, loan terms and conditions
  • Prepare loan summary including financial analysis and credit documents to assist in the loan approval process
  • Learn how to put a commitment letter together which outlines the transaction and begin to understand the legal clauses incorporated into the commitment letter and why they are contained in the commitment
  • Coordinate with Funder, Investor, Solicitor and other third party consultants to ensure loan conditions are met
  • Monitor pending and approved loans in your pipeline using the CRM to ensure timelines are met and to keep the team and commercial credit appraised of any changes affecting projections and revenue of the team and company
  • Working with assumptions, renewals and administration to respond in a timely manner to requests relating to renewing or matured loans, assumptions, undertakings and requests for financial statements
  • Follow up on maturing loans to determine borrower interest and prepare renewal underwriting, loan summary, and coordinate closing of renewal files
  • Assist in the processing of all construction draw requests
  • Plan, organize and co-ordinate functions and special events for Management
  • General and administrative support including: assist Senior Analyst to underwrite larger/complex files, including data entry and compile market research, with BDM to send introduction letters to prospects, photocopying, filing, thank you and/or year-end gifts/baskets, enter CRM updates as required, analyse and complete post-closing servicing requests within required deadlines
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the commercial mortgage division

The experience you need:

  • Undergraduate Degree with a focus in a Finance related discipline
  • 1 – 2 years experience in a commercial mortgage or commercial real estate environment
  • Familiarity with principles of property valuation
  • Experience in financial analysis (i.e. balance sheet, income statement)
  • Knowledge of applicable real estate lending regulations
  • Advanced PC skills, with an emphasis on Word, Excel and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CRM)
  • Organizational skills to manage several ongoing and competing tasks simultaneously
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Results oriented and highly motivated
  • Self-starter

  • Office environment
  • Periods of high volume with tight timelines
  • Long periods of stationary position/sitting
  • Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
