BearingPoint Ireland is looking for an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to join our growing team and drive impactful projects for our diverse range of clients.What type of work will you be doing?As a SQL Server Database Administrator at BearingPoint, you will be at the forefront of managing and optimising our clients’ database environments. Your role will involve:
- Database Administration: Overseeing the administration, operation, and maintenance of SQL Servers, including Windows Servers, Networks, Clusters, IIS, BizTalk, and .NET Framework.
- Cloud Integration: Working with Azure SQL and associated technologies such as Application Insights, Cloud Services, Storage Services, Microsoft Entra, traffic management, and high availability configurations.
- Automation and Scripting: Writing automated scripts using PowerShell and SQL to streamline database operations.
- Incident Management: Handling Problem, Incident, and Event Management processes to ensure minimal downtime and quick resolution of issues.
- Stakeholder Management: Managing stakeholders in complex environments and ensuring effective communication and documentation.
- Database Optimisation: Utilizing SQL database monitoring tools and optimisation standards to enhance performance.
- Project Involvement: Participating in the configuration, setup, and design of database environments from online, batch, and reporting perspectives.

What we look for in a SQL Server Database Administrator
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ IT experience as a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator in an “on-prem” environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Azure SQL, Windows Azure consoles, and automation tools. Knowledge of Microsoft clustering technology and virtualisation (Hyper-V, VMWare).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to manage and resolve database-related issues efficiently.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Mentorship: Experience in acting as a coach and supporting the development of others.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a service environment, managing customer service desks, work item prioritisation, and SLA management.
- Educational Background: 3rd level degree in an IT-related discipline.
- Additional beneficial skills
- Software Delivery Practices: Understanding of modern delivery methodologies, including Agile.
- Database Design: Experience in database design from various perspectives.
- Development Environment: Familiarity with Microsoft IDE product set, including Visual Studio and AzureDevOps/GIT.
