Do you like to be in a role where you will be coordinating between operational facilities and different project groups? We’re looking for a Radiation Protection Supervisor to join our team. - Managing the utilization of Facilities Decommissioning (FD) Radiation Protection Staff to achieve FD project requirements and milestones.
- Ensuring that correct Radiation Protection instruments and techniques are being used to support decommissioning projects and meet the requirements of the Chalk River Laboratories Decommissioning Facilities and Radiation Protection Programs.
- Providing advice on RP resource utilization and the latest technological developments in the radiation protection field.
- Forecasting staffing needs, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and initial and ongoing training.
- Continuing observation and coaching, performance management, appraisals and evaluations.
- Optimizing employee talent and capability.
- Managing personnel time, staffing allocation and arranging overtime resources as required by operational needs.
- Requesting and correlating information required for reports, including compilation and processing through tracking software (e.g., compliance surveys, routine duties, and RP Logs).
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Secondary School graduation with advanced level in Math, Science and English or equivalent.
- Experience
- Experience working in a nuclear environment or equivalent.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiar with emergency procedures and responsibilities.
- Knowledge and application of radiation protection principles, measurements and contamination control to a Group 1 Radiation Protection level.
- Good writing skills for report development, daily logs, Radiological Work Assessments and Radiological Work Permits.
- Good working ability with Microsoft suite of software.
- Understanding of waste management principles and volume reduction methodologies.
- Capable of producing plans and schedules.
- Knowledge of Canada Labour Code Part II.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission’s regulations and how they apply to decommissioning activities is an asset.
- Knowledge of the applicable codes associated with decommissioning a nuclear site and buildings and how to apply them when performing decommissioning activities is required is an asset.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
