Just like you.As the Lidl Plastics and Packaging Lead, you’ll be responsible for delivering the businesses ambitious plastics and packaging targets, working with Buyers to manage packaging changes through to completion. From supporting our Buying team with the best practical advice to building strategic relationships with our suppliers, you’ll be the technical expert for Lidl GB, driving the implementation of the plastics and packaging strategy. - Manage packaging projects across a wide range of products with the goal of driving and tracking progress towards our ambitious packaging targets and reducing compliance spend.
- Be the packaging technical expert for Lidl GB, sharing expertise with our Buyers and the wider business on packaging materials and sustainability – driving the implementation of the plastics and packaging strategy.
- Support the Environment Manager in the development of the future Plastics and Packaging Strategy.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with suppliers to drive new packaging innovation and solutions.
- Coordination of internal and external communications to communicate the new and exciting changes to our packaging.
- Developing into a subject matter expert for the wider business, keeping track of upcoming policy and legislation changes within plastics and packaging and performing competitor reviews.
- Manage multiple projects independently with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines.
- Manage relationships with relevant external NGO & industry partners.
- Learn and develop your technical expertise and knowledge of CSR topics and support the team with the delivery of additional CSR topics and wider team coordination.
What you’ll need
- A passion and drive for sustainability and plastics and packaging technology.
- Previous experience of working in a packaging related role.
- Technical packaging knowledge as well as understanding of packaging related legislation (PRNs, EPR, Plastic Packaging Tax).
- Strong analytical skills with experience in working with large and complex datasets.
- Excellent project and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organisational skills; attention to detail, managing multiple projects and delivering to strict deadlines.
- Collaborative working style and willingness to learn.
