Job DescriptionAssistant ControllerType: In-Office | Full-TimeLocation: Edmonton, AlbertaAbout Our ClientOur Client is a leading Employment Services provider based in Edmonton, Alberta and they are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller to join the team. As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations and reporting of the business. In addition to the hands-on financial functions the role also includes input on operational structure and efficiencies for the business as they continue to grow.Key Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation of the internal monthly financial statements and reporting packages
- Provide oversight and support for accounts payable and receivable processes
- Oversee annual audit file preparation
- Oversee the preparation of the revenue and expense budgets for departments.
- Monitor monthly results and compare/highlight significant variances
- Make recommendations to reduce overhead and operating costs.
- Train accounting staff as required.
- Monitor/maintain intercompany transactions
Qualifications
- A recognized Canadian Commerce or Accounting degree or equivalent
- A CPA designation required
- Will have a minimum of 8 years working in full-cycle accounting processes
- Will have proven and progressive experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll
- Will have strong verbal and written communication skills along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
