As a Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic direction in the design, implementation, and management of the Gold Windows Image. You will play a pivotal role in streamlining Scotiabank’s Windows image and base components ensuring the security, stability, and efficiency of system performance.As a Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for working with diverse teams, leveraging industry leading technology and processes to engineer, maintain, integrate and secure our desktop environment. Contribute to the overall success of the windows 11 functionality with a global focus ensuring the systems functioning optimally..Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- The Desktop Engineer Lead will be responsible for working with the GTEP desktop engineering teams and ensuring the smooth operation and maximum performance of Windows systems and all associated installed components including security and monitoring tools.
- This role involves investigating and troubleshooting complex technical issues, implementing solutions, and optimizing system performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of desktop engineers, providing guidance and support.
- Investigate and troubleshoot Windows system issues and all associated installed components.
- Ensure the smooth operation and maximum performance of desktop environments.
- Develop and implement strategies for system optimization and performance enhancement.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve technical issues and improve system reliability.
- Manage and maintain desktop hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure best practices.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
- Participate in the planning and execution of IT projects related to desktop infrastructure.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
- Proven experience as a Desktop Engineer or similar role, with leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and associated components.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with system optimization and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with desktop management tools and software.
- Ability to recommend areas of operational system and process improvements
- Demonstrated excellence in documenting complex system level processes and services, and proactively sharing and communicating complex technical and procedural information
- Sound understanding of general business conditions and practices with ability to think strategically with ability to effectively translate business requirements into effective security solutions.
- Strong understanding of Windows services, processes and settings
- Proficiency in conducting performance assessments, identifying warnings and issues, and assessing the means of remedying them. Ability to develop strategies and prioritize performance measures based on identified performance challenges.
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate technology concepts to senior business managers
