Job description
Aplin has partnered with our Ontario-based client to recruit a Director of Finance to join our client’s team.The Director of Finance will oversee all financial operations, providing strategic leadership to ensure the financial health and growth of the organization. Reporting to the CEO, this role encompasses financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and reporting.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors on financial performance and opportunities.
- Continuously improve financial reporting processes to meet corporate and management needs.
- Lead the annual business planning process and participate in strategic planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Maintain a strong focus on forward cash flow planning and management.
- Deliver timely financial reports, cost analyses, and actionable insights to senior management.
- Collaborate with external auditors for year-end reviews and special projects.
- Manage capital expenditure approvals and ensure investments align with approved budgets.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, annual reports, and other key financial documents.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Monitor market trends and economic conditions to inform financial planning and risk management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management within a small to medium-sized business.
- Expertise in financial principles, practices, and regulations.
- Proven success in strategic financial planning and analysis.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
- Ability to innovate and adapt in dynamic environments.
- Resilience under pressure and in high-stakes situations.
