We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Accounting Clerk. The Accounting Clerk will be an integral part of our financial operations, taking charge of tasks such as bank reconciliations, revenue recording, and General Ledger account reconciliations. This role will also involve assisting with audits and maintaining payment records, among other responsibilities.Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process and submit monthly HST remittances, including analyzing corporate sales and purchases for reporting.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between system and bank transactions, and prepare accurate GL entries compliant with municipal accounting standards.
  • Verify cash deposit/revenue summaries received from various operations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accuracy in accounting transactions.
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts by comparing entries with data from source payment platforms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in preparing basic financial statements, conducting analyses, and maintaining accounting registers and controls.
  • Support customers and departments with financial inquiries related to payments made or received.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Support Supervisor to identify and resolve integration-related issues.
  • Prepare non-bank account related summaries and reconciliations.
  • Provide backup support to the Accounting Analyst and Accounts Payable Clerks when necessary.
  • Assist with reporting, rate and fee analysis, and other departmental or staff projects as required.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
  • Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations
  • Experience in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation
  • Familiarity with HST
  • Proficient in managing General Ledger
  • Skill in Account Reconciliation
  • Understanding of Revenue Recognition procedures
  • Experience in Posting Payments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • General Accounting knowledge and experience
